Bidding preferences

There are several bidding preferences that can be changed by clicking on Bidding Preferences on the Optimize tab.

  • Test Clicks: The number of clicks before we make any bid recommendations. If you have a high conversion rate (above 5%), you may want to lower the number of test clicks. If you have a very low conversion rate (less than 1%) you should increase the number of test clicks.

  • Long Tail Keywords: You can also use a AdBuyer bidding rule to change the CPC bids on “long-tail” keywords – keywords that do not get enough clicks to reach the minimum click threshold.  Choose the option labeled “Manage long-tail keywords based on average conversion rates for each ad group,” in order to begin changing bids without meeting the minimum click threshold. You should choose this option if your long-tail keywords are likely to have similar conversion rates. Otherwise you run the risk of missing some "diamonds in the rough".

  • First day of pixel data: Use this setting to set the first date that contains "good" data. This can be used to eliminate older results that may be less applicable or account for missing data.

  • Update Frequency: By default, we make bid recommendations daily.  You can change these settings if you have specific needs
